DIY Earring Organizer

This DIY project is so quick and easy I wish I made one a long time ago! The supplies are inexpensive and the project itself doesn't require much artsy talent at all! All of the supplies I used can be found at your local craft and dollar stores.

Here's what you will need:

~Wooden picture frame of any size you'd like
~Acrylic Paint (color of your choice!)
~Lace: This can be of any pattern. You can choose different size lace ribbon or use a full sheet of lace to cover the entire inside of the frame.
~Hot glue gun
~Scissors
~Paint brush (I used a foam brush from the dollar store)

Directions:
  1. Remove frame from any plastic wrapping and discard of glass and backing. (Of course you can keep this if you have another use for it!)
  2. Paint frame with the color of your choice. (It's up to you if you want to paint the back as well. If you are hanging the finished product up on your wall or something, then you can probably leave it as is.)
  3. Let that first coat of paint dry before applying a second coat.
  4. After the second coat is dry, cut lace to your desired lengths.
  5. Hot glue the ends of lace onto the back of the frame in whatever pattern that suits you.
  6. You can choose to add some ribbon onto your frame using your glue gun to hang it up. Or you can just lean it up against something as I did.
  7. Be creative and decorate it however you want!
  8. Now that you're finished, hang up your earrings and enjoy! :-)

Email me your pictures if you try this project!

Beauty Tip Tuesday: The Perfect Nude Lip Shade For You!

You'll soon find out that I am a makeup junkie. I don't pile on makeup everyday but I love trying new techniques and products! It's hard for me to enter a store and not walk out with a new beauty product...it's a bit of a problem. One product in particular that I have bought a lot of is nude lip shades. I can never find the right shade so I just keep buying them! After accumulating so many different products I realized that I could probably go shopping in my own cosmetic collection. This is how I realized I might already have the lip shade I've been looking for...my concealer! Yep, that's right I use my concealer on my lips as my nude lip color and I'm sure I'm not alone in this! Since it's the right shade for my skin, it looks great on my lips especially when I wear dark eye makeup. Here are some tips on getting beautiful nude lips:

  • Make sure your lips are clean and smooth. Even your lips need some exfoliation, especially during the winter months! While brushing your teeth, lighty go over your lips with your toothbrush as well! This works wonders and your lip color will look ten times better without all that extra dry skin!
  • I like to put on a little lip balm before applying the concealer to help the product go on smoothly.
  • Apply concealer evenly!
  • Add a clear or shimmery gloss and you're good to go!

Double-Dose of Cute! Sophia Grace & Rosie

Have you heard of Sophia Grace and Rosie?! These cute little cousins have become YouTube sensations! The first video I came across was 8 year old Sophia singing Nicki Minaj’s “Superbass”. After seeing that video I decided to click on another video where she gave quite the performance of Keri Hilson’s “Turn my Swag on”. I couldn’t believe that she knew all the words to these songs! But what surprised me even more is that she knew how to sell the lyrics! It wasn’t long before Sophia and her “hype girl” and cousin, Rosie, made their first appearance on the Ellen Show. To say Sophia is full of energy would be an understatement. Ellen has sent the girls to interview celebrities on the red carpet for both the American Music Awards and The Grammy Awards and as expected, the footage is very entertaining. For every appearance the girls are outfitted in tutus and tiaras, adding to the cuteness! I dare you to try getting through one of their videos without smiling and laughing! Check out all of their performances here!

#RihannaNavy & #TeamBreezy callabo?!

Rihanna and Chris Brown are making headlines again! As you may know, back in 2009 Brown was charged with assaulting his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna. After the fallout and media attention, Rihanna's career continued to rise and surprisingly it didn't take long for Chris Brown's to do the same. Recently, there have been rumors circulating about the former couple communicating via Twitter. Some didn't want to believe that she would ever be friendly with him again, but on Rihanna's 24th birthday, not one but two collaborations were released with Chris Brown. Needless to say, this created a lot of mixed feelings for fans around the world. Rihanna had made it clear in the past that she didn't want the 2009 "incident" to define who she was, however, is collaborating with her abusive ex boyfriend the way to prove that? There is nothing wrong with forgiving and forgetting, in order to move on with your life, but in Rihanna's case she has a lot more at stake. Since she's always in the public eye, by default, she is often seen as a role model to young women. Whether or not she wants to be a spokesperson for domestic violence, women who have gone through something similar have looked to her for strength. On the other hand, some may argue that the "incident" shouldn't define Chris Brown. Does he deserve a second chance? Is Rihanna sending out the wrong message? How do you feel about this situation? Let me know in the comments below!

Beauty Tip Tuesday: Newspaper Nail Art!

I've never really been one to get acrylic nails and actually keep them on for long periods of time. I usually would get them for a wedding or school dance and within a month or two I would take them off. I always hated how I would have to nurse my nails back to health after taking off the acrylics. Long story short, I like to keep my natural nails in tact. Everyone is always asking me if my nails are fake! What's my trick to keeping them long and healthily? Simply keeping them painted. This keeps them strong and less prone to cracking and breaking. I've been looking for new designs and colors for my nails and I came across this gem. Newspaper Nail Art! It seemed easy enough so I thought I would give it a try! I love how it turned out so I decided to share it with all of you!

    Start with clean nails
Paint nails a light gray, tan or any other color you prefer
    Let nails dry completely
One at a time dip nail in rubbing alcohol for 5 seconds
Immediately press on newspaper clipping and hold for 15 seconds then gently pull of newspaper clip from nail
    Let dry
When dry, paint a clear coat on nails to keep newspaper print from smudging!
Use a cotton swab to remove any excess (as you can see from the picture I haven't completed this step yet!)

Email me pictures of your nails if you try this :-)
